“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to ones such as these.'”Matthew 19:14
What to expect at St. Stephen’s
At St. Stephen’s we believe that children are an integral part of our church community and our community at large.
Christian education classes, family events, and community outreach opportunities are provided to strengthen our children’s love of God, involvement in our church family, and connection to our greater community.
During these trying times, our Sundays look a little different. Due to limited seating in church, for social distancing purposes, classes will be held at 10:15. While children are busy learning & creating, parents may watch the live-stream video of that morning’s service in the conference room. Our nursery will remain closed until further notice. Masks must be worn at all times for all church events and social distancing guidelines must be followed.
We are currently offering Children’s Christian Education classes on Sunday mornings at 10:15 am, in the parish hall. Classes are open to children grades k-5, although we always welcome help from older children (or adults!). At this time, the Facebook Live video from that morning’s service will be shown in the vestry room for parents to watch.
Next Christian Education Class:
Monthly family events are offered throughout the course of the school year. These are informal events for families with children of all ages. Events are generally seasonal or theme based, and aim to foster a sense of belonging within our church community.
Egg Hunt- rescheduled for 11 am on 4/18, weather permitting
Community outreach opportunities will be held directly following the 10:15 Christian Education class (about 11 am), on the first Sunday of every month, unless otherwise noted. We are currently working with Street Soldiers Schenectady creating bagged lunches which will later be distributed to those in need within our community.
Next Community Outreach Opportunity:
4/25 @ 11AM
