St. Stephen’s Families

“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to ones such as these.'”

Matthew 19:14

What to expect at St. Stephen’s

At St. Stephen’s we believe that children are an integral part of our church community and our community at large.

Christian education classes, family events, and community outreach opportunities are provided to strengthen our children’s love of God, involvement in our church family, and connection to our greater community.

With COVID protocols still in place, our Sundays look a little different. Christian Ed classes will be during the 9 am service each week, following the school calendar. For the time being our nursery will remain closed. Masks must be worn at all times for all church events and social distancing guidelines must be followed.

We are currently offering Children’s Christian Education classes on Sunday mornings during the 9 am service. Classes are open to children grades k-6, although we always welcome help from older children. I will lead children to our classroom after the Gospel is read and keep children in class until the service is over.

Next Christian Education Class:

January 23

Family events are offered throughout the course of the school year. These are informal events for families with children of all ages. Events are generally seasonal or theme based, and aim to foster a sense of belonging within our church community.

Upcoming Event:

TBD – stay tuned for a hopeful snowman building contest or sledding date in February – weather permitting

Community Outreach

Community outreach opportunities will be held directly following the 9 am church service, on the first Sunday of every month, unless otherwise noted. We are currently working with Street Soldiers Schenectady creating bagged lunches which will later be distributed to those in need within our community.

Next Community Outreach Opportunity:

2/6 Street Soldiers lunch making

For more information about any of our children’s programs please contact Bethany Schuldt at Office@St-Stephens.Church
